Kid's Day in Japan

May 5th is kid's Day in Japan.
We hoist "Koinobori"on tall poles to celebrate the Kid's Day.
Koinobori is carp shaped streamers. Why are carp used to
celebrate the Kid's Day? Because we consider carp to be full
energy, they swim upstream and are believed to go up the water fall.

Dedicated to all children of the world.

Arigatou Date: Tue, 21 May 1996 10:17:06 +0100 Dear Syu, What a lovely surprise! Your mystery package arrived Monday afternoon, and we were revising our guesses before we opened it. WE realized it was probably not a poster, but we were not prepared for such a beautiful gift. We almost couldn't believe it when we finally opened your gift....What pretty carp streamers! Everyone was so excited! We showed them to everyone in our school! We think they were envious of us! We even asked our principal to come down and see your gift! He told us how lucky we are to have such a dear friend. We will send you send you pictures of us with your gift. We put our Japanese slide show for our on videotape this morning and we also sent the rough draft movies of our stream study. Mrs. Wall said she would put them in the mail this week! Our classroom has almost become a Syu room. We have our bulletin board covered with all your email and our kid pix pictures. We also have your photos too displayed. You really do have wild boars! We could not believe our eyes. Your city looked lovely, most of us have not visited a big city. Some of us have been to Washington D.C. but for many of us it is hard to travel very far because we have to feed the cows and chickens and take care of the other farm animals! Arigatou for being such a kawii tomo!! Your friends , Mrs. Wall's Class
